Hillary and Chelsea Clinton, Sam Branson launch prodco, prep docuseries for Apple
Former U.S. Secretary of State, First Lady and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton is teaming with daughter Chelsea Clinton and filmmaker/entrepreneur Sam Branson in a production company venture, HiddenLight Productions, which has scored its first commission via Apple TV+.
The docuseries, Gutsy Women, is a straight-to-series order based on the book from Hilary and Chelsea Clinton, The Book of Gutsy Women: Favorite Stories of Courage and Resilience. Both women will serve as hosts for the series, which aims to spotlight diverse trailblazing women.
HiddenLight Productions, meanwhile, launches with the mandate of creating premium documentary, unscripted and scripted projects for TV, film and digital platforms that “will celebrate the best of the human spirit and help audiences see the world in new ways,” according to the company.
The founders have also brought on Roma Khanna as executive chair and Johnny Webb as CEO. Khanna was previously President of MGM Television Group and Digital, whilst Webb was CEO of Sundog Pictures and formerly Managing Director of the Living TV Group.
